PRE Advisers takes privacy seriously. We handle personal information with the same care and discretion we bring to every client engagement — and we believe you have the right to know exactly what we do with it.
Who We Are
PRE Advisers is a professional services firm providing outsourced C-suite leadership — including COO, CFO, CCO and Non-Executive Director services — to investment management firms and family offices globally. We operate from London, United Kingdom.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, PRE Advisers is operated as a sole trader and is the data controller in respect of personal data collected via this website. Our contact details are set out in Section 13.
ICO Registration: As a sole trader processing personal data in the course of business, PRE Advisers is in the process of registering with the Information Commissioner's Office as required under the Data Protection Act 2018. Registration will be completed prior to this site being used for commercial client intake. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact us directly at [email protected].
What Data We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to respond to your enquiry and prepare a briefing for the PRE Advisers team ahead of their initial conversation with you. We do not collect data speculatively or for marketing purposes.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| First and last name | To address you personally and prepare your briefing |
| Email address | To make contact following your enquiry |
| Organisation name | To understand the context of your enquiry |
| Firm type and jurisdiction | To identify the most relevant PRE Advisers expertise |
| Services of interest | To prepare a relevant initial briefing |
| Stage of project or challenge | To understand the context and urgency of your needs |
We do not collect payment information, sensitive personal data, or any information beyond what is listed above through this website.
How We Collect It
All personal data collected through this website is gathered via our intake chatbot — a conversational assistant that appears in the contact section and as a floating window throughout the site. The chatbot is operated by PRE Advisers and powered by the Anthropic Claude API.
Before any data is collected, you are presented with a clear privacy notice and must actively consent by clicking "I understand — begin". The conversation will not proceed without this explicit consent.
We do not collect personal data through any other mechanism on this website — there are no contact forms, newsletter sign-ups, account registrations or tracking pixels.
Why We Use It
The information you provide is used solely to:
- Prepare a confidential briefing for the PRE Advisers senior team ahead of their initial call with you
- Make personal contact with you via the email address you provide
- Ensure that the right member of the PRE Advisers team is briefed on your specific situation and needs
We do not use your information for marketing communications, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose beyond responding to your specific enquiry. We will never sell, rent or trade your personal data.
Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we are required to have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. We rely on the following:
| Processing Activity | Legal Basis |
|---|---|
| Collecting intake information via chatbot | Consent — you actively agree before the conversation begins |
| Preparing and sending an internal briefing | Legitimate interests — responding to a business enquiry |
| Making contact following your enquiry | Legitimate interests — following up on an expressed interest in our services |
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
How Long We Keep It
We retain personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Chatbot session data: The conversation itself exists only in your browser's memory during the session and is never written to a database, cookie or local storage. When you click "Clear & delete this session", all conversation data is permanently removed from your browser. Nothing is retained locally.
The structured briefing generated at the end of your conversation is transmitted to PRE Advisers via a secure email. We retain this briefing, along with your contact details, for up to 24 months from the date of your enquiry, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever is sooner.
If no engagement results from your enquiry and you have not been in contact with us for 24 months, your data will be securely deleted.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes. We work with a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, under strict contractual obligations:
| Provider | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | Powers the AI intake assistant via API. Conversation messages are processed per-request and are not retained by Anthropic beyond the immediate API call. | USA |
| Netlify | Hosts this website and the serverless functions that route your enquiry. Your data passes through Netlify's infrastructure but is not stored there. | USA |
| Resend | Delivers the enquiry briefing email to PRE Advisers. Acts as a transactional email processor only. | USA |
All three providers are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place — including Standard Contractual Clauses or reliance on providers' adequacy frameworks under UK data protection law.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in respect of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within one calendar month.
- Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — you may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — you may ask us to delete your personal data where there is no compelling reason for us to continue processing it.
- Right to restrict processing — you may ask us to pause the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — where processing is based on consent, you may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will cease processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds.
- Rights related to automated decision-making — we do not use your data for automated profiling or decision-making.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies. We do not set any first-party or third-party cookies, tracking pixels, or similar technologies. No information about your visit is stored in your browser between sessions.
The intake chatbot stores conversation data exclusively in your browser's session memory — not in cookies or local storage — and this data is permanently cleared when you end the session.
Session Data & the Chatbot
Our intake chatbot is designed with privacy as a first principle. Before any data is collected, you are shown a clear notice explaining exactly how the conversation is handled and must actively consent to proceed.
What this means in practice: your conversation exists only in your browser's memory (a temporary JavaScript variable) for the duration of the session. Nothing is written to a database, cookie, local storage or any other persistent store on your device. The moment you click "Clear & delete this session", the data is permanently removed from your browser. Refreshing or closing the page has the same effect.
The only moment personal data leaves your browser is when the conversation completes and a structured summary is transmitted securely to the PRE Advisers team via an encrypted connection (HTTPS). This transmission uses Resend as a transactional email processor — see Section 7.
The AI responses in the chatbot are generated by the Anthropic Claude API. Each message is sent to the API as part of the current session only and is not stored by Anthropic beyond the immediate API call, in accordance with Anthropic's data processing terms.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, destruction or damage. These include:
- All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS (TLS)
- API credentials are stored as server-side environment variables and are never exposed in browser-facing code
- Chatbot session data is held only in browser memory and never written to persistent storage
- Our hosting infrastructure is provided by Netlify, which maintains ISO 27001-aligned security practices
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have concerns about the security of your data, please contact us at [email protected].
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal obligations. When we do, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of this website following any changes constitutes your acknowledgement of the updated policy.
